LOCATION
The base camp is located in El Porvenir, New Mexico, an isolated small mountain community located in the heavily forested high plains of northeastern New Mexico. It is near the Santa Fe National Forest and Wilderness Area. Camping will be on the private property of host Rock Ulibarri, Sr along the Gallinas Creek at an elevation of nearly 8,000 feet. This property has been in his family for many generations. He will be happy to tell you the history of his family in this area. Cool off in the Creek or catch fish for your dinner with a local license. Up the road, a short shuttle away, is Montezuma Hot Springs (https://www.visitlasvegasnm.com/montezuma-hot-springs). Plan a visit before you arrive on Saturday or Sunday on your way back.
You provide your own camping equipment and gear and have the option to bring a small contained unit. There are no electrical or sewer hook-ups for campers, and limited cell service. There is a solar shower/wash station and port-a-potties. Our staff is happy to help you get set up.

In less than 2 miles you will reach a right turn with signage for El Porvenir on State Route 65. Turn here for about 1.5 miles. Gallinas Tours will be marked with a sign on the right.
Look for Gallinas Tours signs indicating which way to go, beginning at Montezuma. You will see arrow signs showing you how to get to Gallinas Tours campsite.
